ABSTRACT

The study focused on the usage of Influence of Information and Communication Technology on the teaching and Learning of Integrated Science in Junior secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state, Nigeria, to make this possible, three research questions and purpose was raised to evaluate the extent to which the ICT have adopted among integrated science teachers, determine the impact of ICT adoption on the academic performance of integrated science students, find out whether ICT is available in junior secondary school for teaching and learning of integrated Science

Descriptive survey research design was adopted to accomplish the objectives of the study. The sample size of the study consists of twenty (20) accessible integrated science teachers. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire developed by the researcher and was validated by the researcher’s supervisor. The reliability coefficient was 0.76 was obtained using Pearson Product Moment Correlation method.

          The finding of the study revealed that the extent ICT have been adopted among integrated science teachers, the study discovered that the extent ICT have been adopted among integrated science teachers is low and that Impact of ICT adoption on the academic performance of integrated science teachers is high. The study recommend that the availability and application of ICT among integrated science teachers were low, and therefore recommends that Government should make available funds and sponsor the provision and purchase of ICT facilities for teaching of integrated science and that The government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST), should make available Integrated science ICT facilities for use by teachers to enhance students’ academic performance in integrated science.
