ABSTRACT

This study investigated the effectiveness of geography education in enhancing environmental awareness among students in Senior Secondary School in Egor Local Government Area Edo state. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. A sample of one hundred respondents was selected from a population of students in the selected Local Government. A simple random sampling technique was used for the selection. A self-developed questionnaire titled ‘Questionnaire on the influence of geography education on students awareness of environmental pollution in secondary school in Edo state’ was used for the collection of data. The instrument was validated and found to be reliable. It was personally administered by the researcher. The results got showed that, Students were greatly influenced by geography education and it enhanced their awareness about the environment. The analyses were done using mean and standard deviation.
