ABSTRACT

 This study was developed to examine the impact of family breakdown on academic performance of secondary school students in Ovia North East Local Government of EdoState. This study was projected using five objectives(purpose of research) which  translated into the following five research question:

Does a dysfunctional family negatively influence academic performance in secondary school students? What are the common influences of parenting styles on secondary school students’ academic performance? What are the important relationships between learning environment and secondary school students’ academic performance? What are the psychological impacts of parental separation on academic performance of secondary school students? What are the impacts of the school environment on secondary school students’  academic achievement?

In this study, after an extensive  literature review, we employed a survey design method to conduct the survey. We analyzed the questionnaire and presented the results in Chapter 4. The summary presented, along with the conclusion and recommendations in the last Chapter.
