ABSTRACT
The study determined the influence of entrepreneurship skill acquisition on unemployment reduction in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of the study comprises of 430 students in the six departments of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin out of which 207 were selected using the simple random sampling (SRS) technique and questionnaire was administered to them. Four research questions were raised to guide this study. The instrument was validated by two experts one from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education and the other from the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin.
The study concluded that entrepreneurship education empowers recipients with viable skills for self-reliance thereby reducing unemployment rate: bases on findings of the study, the following recommendation were made: Industrial establishment in Nigeria should set up schools of entrepreneurship studies to inculcate their skills of production in young people, Government in collaboration with vocational centers should make more deliberate efforts to identify entrepreneurship culture among residents as remedy to escalate unemployment challenges among them.
