 ABSTRACT

The study investigated the Influence of emotions on journalism practice in Nigeria.

The study employed descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprises of 7,345,811 Edo and Delta respondents 384 were randomly selected and used as sample of the study.

The findings revealed that infiltration of emotions such as anger and fear into journalism has often led to less fact-based. It was also revealed that emotions ultimately prompt a greater human interest in the perspectives and personal experiences of others. This would be possible if human lives and tragedies were consistently reduced to neural fact-based reporting. The researcher recommended that both governments, media owners, Nigeria security agencies should help enhance the influence of emotions on the practice of journalism for better delivering of news within and outside Nigeria.
