ABSTRACT
This study focused on assessing the influence of digital resource on academic performance for Fine art (painting) students in tertiary institution in Edo state. The objectives of the study were to examine the digital resources commonly used by painting students in tertiary institution, to evaluate the attitude of students toward digital resource on academic performance of painting students in tertiary institution, ascertain the challenges associated with the use of digital resources among painting students in tertiary institutions and to investigate the influence of digital resource on the academic performance for painting students in tertiary institution. In terms of the theoretical framework, the mediamorphosis and uses and gratification theory were used, while a descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and questionnaire served as the instrument for data collection. Findings from the study revealed digital resources has influenced the academic performance of painting students by made complex subjects easy, improved the problem solving skills of painting students and enabled them to learn at their own pace. However, high cost of internet fee, lack or digital skills and high subscription rate to digital resources are challenges to painting students in tertiary institutions. It was concluded that there is a relationship between academic performance and digital resources. The researcher recommended that digital training should be integrated into the curriculum of painting students and they should be encouraged to participate in the training. It was also recommended that participation in practical painting activities using digital resources should be encouraged.
