ABSTRACT
This study investigates the influence of digital literacy among facilitators in promoting adult learning in Benin Metropolis. Six (6) research questions were raised to guide the study. The population of this study comprised of Four hundred and Eighty (430) adult learners and sixty-two (67) facilitators from three local government areas with functioning learning centres in Benin Metropolis. No sample was selected for the study as the researchers decided to use the entire population for the study since the size is manageable. The major instrument used for this study was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed and validated by experts in the department of Adult and Non-formal Education, Faculty of Education University of Benin. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, frequencies counts, and simple percentages Findings of the study revealed that the types of types of digital tools that are available for facilitators in promoting adult learning in literacy centre are; Projectors, Computer Desktop or Laptop, Smart phones, Internet facilities, Graphics Tablet, Public Address System and Television. It was further revealed that facilitators can pass across necessary information and sent messages to learners using digital tools, and it would be easy for them to engage their learners in more learning activities using digital tools. It was therefore recommended that National Mass Education Commission (NMEC) and National Orientation Agency (NOA) should include digital literacy contents and endeavour to make efforts to provide the needed facilities (i.e. electronic gadgets that will facilitate the teaching of digital literacy for adult learners) in every adult education programmes in order to meet the adult learners need in this contemporary time without compromising the needs for future adults. . It was further recommended that there is the need for our government at all levels to increase the budgetary allocation to education particularly adult education because adults need to be digitally literate, they are the ones contributing to the nations gross domestic products.
