ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an overview on the influence-of field trip method on student interest in integrated sciences in public Junior secondary schools' in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research questions and one hypothesis were raised to guide the study. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit information answering the research questions. The sample population of 17 teachers was drawn from the 14 public schools in Oredo local government Area. Mean and standard deviation was used to analyse the respondents’ responses. The following were the findings: Teachers in secondary schools in Oredo are aware of the importance field trip teaching methods. Basic science teachers make use of field-trip teaching method in the teaching of integrated science. Field trip method has significant influence on students’ interest in integrated science.The following recommendations were made:The school principal should ensure that Basic science teachers use regularly field trip method in teaching of basic science. The government and stakeholders in education should ensure that the needed funds and resources to facilitate teachers’ use of field trip method are provided.
