ABSTRACT
This study investigates the influence of continuing education programmes on the socioeconomic development of adult learners in Benin metropolis. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. The population for the study is a total of Nine Hundred and Ninety respondents. The target sample size for this study was a total number of One Hundred and Ninety-Eight(198) respondents in the area of the study. The questionnaire was designed and validated by experts in the department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education University of Benin. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, frequencies counts, and simple percentages. Findings revealed that The extent to which continuing education contribute to the social development of adult learners in Benin metropolis is very high. Also, The extent to which continuing education contribute to the economic development of adult learners in Benin metropolis is high, among others The researcher also recommends that it is imperative for the government to invest more in continuing education programmes as it has been identified as instrumental for socioeconomic development of learners. Also, it is therefore imperative for the government and non-governmental organizations help address these identified challenges affecting participation in continuing education programmes, among others.
