ABSTRACT
The study was an investigation into the influence of the class size and number of periods on teaching and learning of mathematics in secondary schools in Egor local government Area of Edo state. Four research the findings of this research are: Class size influence students learning as well as their performance. Insufficient number of periods spent on teaching mathematics influence students’ achievement and distractions from large class usually disrupt teaching activities. Questions were raised and two hypotheses were formulated. The survey research design was adopted for the study. A questionnaire instrument was administered on 200 students. The instrument was used to elicit information from two hundred (200) students randomly selected from 5 different schools (3 public and 2 private). The data obtained were analyzed by using the descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistics of t-test of independence was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.

Based on the findings of this study, the researcher concludes that teaching and learning of mathematics is influenced by class size, especially the female students.
