SUMMARY

A majority o f the teachers do not enhance their Students socialization to facilitate their performance in the school. The main commercial child labour in which students are engaged in includes palm fruit and fire wood picking. Which affect their academic performance since they do not attend the school.

A majority o f the students’ respondents are involved in home chores and this causes students absenteeism from school. The level of poverty in Benin city, Edo state is high. Which forces children into child labour to augment their family income and meet school needs, thus affecting academic performance.
