ABSTRACT

The study was conducted to investigate the influence of business education programme will reduce poverty as perceived by business education students in universities in Edo State.

            Descriptive survey research design was adopted to accomplish the objectives of the study. The population of the study consists of all 411 undergraduate in business education and the sample size of sixty (60) accessible respondents was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire developed by the researcher and was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. The reliability coefficient was 0.76 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha correlation coefficient method. The data collected were analyzed statistically using the statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) software.

            The study discovered that the extent accounting skills, commerce skills, economics skills, and marketing in Business Education programmes influence Poverty Reduction is high, the study recommend s that Although the perceived influence by business education students was high yet the researcher recommended that Government should provide accessible and affordable loan facilities for graduates of the programme and Financial institutions should provide suitable loan scheme to interested graduates of the programme;
