Abstract
This research investigated the influence of business education program on economic development in Nigeria. Four research questions was raised. Some of the factor investigated includes how business education program has improved individual creativity, howbusiness education program has improved participation in the economy, how business education program has improved socio economy activities and how business education program has improved cultural role in the society. The objective was achieved by analyzing the data obtained on the sampled population, using survey research design and interval or systematic random sampling techniques. The sample consists of hundred and twenty (120) 400 level students from business education department in the faculty of education, University of Benin. The instrument used for the survey is a questionnaire, which has two sections (A and B) and 40 items. Analysis of the data revealed that. From the above findings, conclusion were drawn and some recommendations were made which include that Business Education subjects or courses should be made compulsory at all levels of education more especially at Primary and Secondary School levels to enable children acquire the necessary skills that will make them creative and self reliant for national development, better timed modern courses should be given to the students of Business Education by qualified Business Education staff, and relevant and up-to-date business courses need to be developed.
