ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of ancient art monuments and artefacts in the teaching of History to secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State: The method used in the collection of data was the questionnaire. A questionnaire form was constructed and distributed to 100 respondents in secondary schools within Egor Local Government Area. The population was made up of 50 male and 50 female students in secondary schools. The data collected were analyzed and the result showed that most schools don’t have qualified teachers for the effective teaching and learning of History with art structures and monuments. Also, it was found that inadequate funding significantly affected the teaching and learning of History in secondary schools. In addition, population size affected significantly the study of History with ancient art monument and resources. Based on these findings, recommendations were made on the following areas; that government should ensure adequate provision of resources for education and make funds available for easy resource allocation. Also, schools should employ experienced and qualified teachers to promote effective teaching and learning of History in schools. It was also recommended that schools should ensure they manage effectively their population rate by controlling the enrolment ratio to allow for even allocation of resources for learning.
