ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to assess the influence of agricultural extension and advisory services on nutrition security in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. Data for the study were sourced using primary and secondary data source. A simple random sampling technique was used to sample 120 respondents for the study. However, only 109 but only Primary data were sourced using structured questionnaire. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics.
Results showed that majority had no access to training and visit by advisory services, organized group meeting, training of farmers. Majority (77.1%) had low level of obesity, 70.6% experience low level of stunted growth. Also, about 78.9% of respondents experienced wasting while 53.2% had low level of weight loss. Advisory services provided were limited by attitude of government towards extension services, non implementation of government policies and Poor funding of advisory services. It was concluded that majority of household have not received information in nutrition through advisory service providers and majority of household were nutritionally secured. It was recommended that; there is need for improved implementation of agricultural advisory service delivery among household in the study area.
