ABSTRACT
Africa boasts a rich and very diverse cultural heritage; therefore, it is not surprising that she has proven to be a source of inspiration, both for Africans and people from other continents. African art does not constitute a single tradition. Africa is an enormous continent with hundreds of cultures that have their own languages, religious beliefs, political systems, and ways of doing things. This research paper and the painting project based on it seeks to show some, out of the various examples in which Africans have been influenced by their culture and how it has reflected in their art works. The painting project was executed through construction of stretcher, stretching the canvas and priming. It would also capture making of miniature sketch and transfer of the sketch to the main canvas. The painting exercise include various stages and steps and finally detailing of figures. With the adherent to the element and principles of design, under the project supervisor the painting project is regarded as successful.
