ABSTRACT
Musical is a drama genre in which music is central in the enforcement of dramatic elements. It provides a unique form of drama experience through the use of music as the bases of dramatisation. Sadly, there is the dearth of stage musical production in Nigeria, a gap which can possibly be bridged by playwrights if they reasonably contribute musical scripts to the repertory of plays in Nigeria. This thought is based on the fact, it is the playwright who is responsible for the provision of drama scripts for directors, actors, and other theatre personnel to realize. That being the case, the researcher engaged in the production of In-different, a stage musical, as means of contributing to the repertory of stage musical in Nigeria. This was accomplished after due literary reviews of existing approaches to playwriting and musical drama production, padded with the researcher’s creative ideas. The study concluded that musical is a living breathing form of drama, and does continue to adapt to capture different media and audiences. The study makes recommendations bringing Nigerian playwrights, and drama producers in Nigeria to contemplation.
