ABSTRACT
Since the signing of the Lagos treaty that birthed ECOWAS in 1975, Nigeria has played major roles in it’s formation and development as a community. Nigeria has engaged in it’s (ECOWAS) Peace Keeping missions, sending the bulk of it’s forces. Nigeria has implemented it’s trade policies and engaged in every aspect of it’s many projects and missions not excluding it’s governing bodies. In line with implementing the policies of ECOWAS, Nigeria has adhered to the Free Trade Policy of ECOWAS by engaging in imports and export of goods to other West African States.
