ABSTRACT
This study explores effective strategies for improving the writing performance of English language students in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. Through a comprehensive literature review, the paper identifies key challenges faced by students in writing proficiency and examines various pedagogical approaches to address these issues. The research emphasizes the importance of integrating writing instruction with other language skills, such as reading and speaking, and advocates for a student-centered, interactive learning environment. Additionally, the study explores the role of technology, peer feedback, and teacher training in enhancing writing outcomes.
By adopting a holistic approach that addresses the individual needs and challenges of learners, the research analyzed that educators can foster a learning environment conducive to improving the writing performance of English language students in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. The research highlights the significance of cultural and contextual considerations in designing writing interventions, recognizing the diverse linguistic backgrounds and socio-economic factors that influence students' writing abilities. It emphasizes the need for culturally relevant writing tasks and materials that resonate with the experiences and interests of students in Egor Local Government Area. Moreover, the paper underscores the importance of ongoing assessment and feedback mechanisms to monitor students' progress and tailor instruction accordingly.
Based on the findings, the paper provides recommendations for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers to implement tailored interventions and support mechanisms to bolster the writing skills of English language students in the region.
