ABSTRACT

The digital realm presents abundant opportunities but is also fraught with growing threats, notably phishing, and malicious websites, posing significant risks to individuals and organizations. With scams evolving into more sophisticated forms, including mimicking legitimate websites and utilizing social engineering tactics, the need for advanced detection mechanisms is paramount. This project focuses on designing a browser extension for real-time detection of phishing and malicious websites, specifically targeting Chromium-based browsers due to their widespread usage. The extension features include real-time URL scanning with immediate alerts, customizable settings for user preferences, and the ability to manually scan links at any time. Utilizing a combination of functional programming and Object-Oriented approaches to system analysis and design, this project integrates with IPqualityscore to enhance detection accuracy and reduce false positives. By leveraging IPqualityscore's extensive data for phishing detection, the extension provides in-depth analysis to safeguard users during web browsing. By prioritizing accurate detection and eliminating false positives, the extension aims to enhance user trust and safety during web browsing. Government agencies, critical infrastructure, and supply chains are among the diverse targets of phishing attacks, highlighting the urgency for effective cybersecurity measures
