ABSTRACT

This study explores the impact of vehicle emissions on the environment in Ekosodin community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of EdoState.Three (3) research question were raised and related literature to the study were reviewed.

Descriptive survey research design was used for the study, data was collected through the aid of a questionnaire. The questionnaire was structured by the researcher according to the research questions and distributed to sample population of 100 respondents. The researcher supervisor and the two experts from Department of Health Safety and Environmental Education validated the questionnaire. The reliability of the instrument was established using the split half method and a coefficient of 0.73 was obtained which reflects that the instrument was reliable.

The findings reveals environmental hazards which includes environmental pollution that are attributable to vehicle emissions in Ekosodin community. The study also highlights the adverse effects of climate change linked with vehicle emissions, such as increased temperatures and extreme weather patterns in Ekosodin community. The researcher suggest mitigation strategies which include increasing public awareness about the environmental impacts of vehicle emissions in Ekosodin community. Based on the findings of the study, Recommendations include Enhancing Public Transportation. These insights are crucial for developing effective policies and interventions to reduce the environmental impacts of vehicle emissions in the residents.
