ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the Impact of community policing in protecting life and properties in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. The survey research design was used in carrying out the study. Four research questions were raised and four hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A questionnaire designed by the researcher and validated by the supervisor was the major instrument for data collection. The population of the study covered all residents (community members) in Oredo LGA. A stratified random sampling technique was used to select two hundred (200) respondents for this study. The analysis of the data collected from respondents was carried out with the use of percentage and frequency distribution tables, while the hypotheses were tested with the chi-square (X2) statistical tool. The finding from the study shows that there is a significant relationship between community policing provision and security of life and properties in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state and there is also a relationship between provisions of community policing and management and prevention of crime in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. It was also discovered that there is a significant relationship between adult education programme and manpower need of community police in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state, and a significant influence viable/visible to community policing on efficient security of life and properties in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state.
