ABSTRACT
This study explored the effectiveness of the impact of teachers’ quality on students’ academic performance in public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which teachers’s quality relate to students’ academic performance in secondary schools in Oredo Local Govrnment Area of Edo State. To guide the study five research questions were raised and two of the questions were answered directly while three were hypothesized.The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of six hundred and thirty-six (636) teachers from the 14 public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. A sample of forty (40) teachers and eighty (80) students from 2 public senior secondary schools was randomly selected for the study. The research instrument used to gather data for the study was the Questionnaire and checklist. The questionnaire titled Teachers’ Quality Questionnaire (TQQ). The checklist titled Students’ Academic Performance Checklist (SAPC) which was used to achieve data on students’ academic performance in Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics. Data collected were analyzed using the sample percentage, Pearson product correlation co-efficient and fisher’s t-test.
