ABSTRACT
The project work was carried out to examine the impact of stress on the psychological well-being of student-athletes at the University of Benin. Four research questions were raised to guide this project work. The study employed the survey research design and the multi-stage sampling technique was used in selecting students that were the respondents from university of Benin. The research instrument used to collect data for the study was a selfconstructed questionnaire. The instrument was validated by the supervisor and a reliability coefficient of 0.75 was obtained. The data was analyzed usin mean and standard deviation. The findings of this study revealed that stress was a direct consequence of the psychological wellbeing of student athletes in the University of Benin, fear of losing in a competition and overtraining and long hours of receiving activity cause stress, solution to reducing stress of university of Benin Student athletes are from having a positive attitude towards training, creating a good relaxing environment, recognition of work done, the stressors between male and female student athletes in the University of Benin. Furthermore, it was recommended that University of Benin should engage in creating a good relaxing environment during training for student athlete, education institutions should provide workshops, seminars, training and a conducive training environment for the students. Student-Athletes should help themselves in reducing stress by eating a healthy diet and getting enough sleep after training hours.
