Abstract
The theoretical framework presented here provides a thorough understanding of the potential impact of social media on University of Benin students' mental health. This framework inform the development of interventions and policies to promote mental health among this population by incorporating theories of communication, behavior change, and stress and coping. Furthermore, the framework can guide future research on the relationship between social media use and mental health, as well as the efficacy of interventions to promote mental health in university students.
