ABSTRACT
The study investigated The Impact of Social Anxiety on Academic Achievement among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of this study, three research questions were raised and examined and two hypotheses were formulated.
The design adopted for this study is the descriptive survey design. The sample size for the study was made up of two hundred and ninety nine (299) secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire titled “Impact of Social Anxiety on Academic Achievement among secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State”. An analysis of data was done using mean and standard deviation.
The findings provide more evidence that there is no significant difference in how social anxiety impacts academic performance based on sex, suggesting that both sex experience comparable challenges such as difficulty concentrating, reluctance to participate in class, and struggles with peer interactions. Since the effect of social anxiety is not significantly different between male and female students, interventions to address it should be designed to support all students equally, regardless of sex.
