ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of school population on students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state. To guide the study four research questions were raised, three were answered directly while one was turned into hypotheses and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of seven hundred and seventy (770) teachers from the 30 public secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state. a sample of one hundred (100) teachers from 5 public secondary schools was randomly selected for the study. The research instrument used to gather data for the study was a Questionnaire titled Impact of Impart of School Population on Students’ Academic Performance Questionnaire (ISPSAPQ). Data collected were analyzed using the descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and hypothesis tested using Pearsons’ product moment correlation formula.
