ABSTRACT

This research study investigated the impact of school-based counselling on the academic achievement of senior secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. While the study was done, five research questions were used to guide the study. Survey research technique was used for this study. The data gotten from the research study was analysed using percentage and frequency table. 

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of school-based counselling on the academic achievement of senior secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State and also showed reasons why students don’t usually get themselves involved in school-base counselling. In order to figure out these research problems, various methodology was used such as population of the study and sample and sampling techniques and the research instrument used in collecting data were a two structured questionnaire, Section A and Section B.  The first section was organised to obtain the demographic information from the respondents while the second section was designed to get the information of the topics under investigation using the Likert Scale. The instrument was reviewed and validated by the project supervisor and other experts in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City.

The findings gotten from the research study was seen and various recommendations were made.
