ABSTRACT
This research specifically examined the impact of radio as a means of communication in national development with City 1051 FM, Lagos as a case study. The objectives of the study were to examine the role of radio programmes in motivating national development, to ascertain whether radio programmes can be used in educating the people on the need for national development, as well as to clarify the extent at which radio programmes can be positively employed towards national development. The survey design was adopted for this study with the aid of 10 - item questionnaire which was administered to the 50 respondents that make up the media house. Data obtained were analysed and presented with the aid of frequency tables, simple percentages and mean score. The key findings of this study exposed the various ways through which radio programmes interact with their audience in various areas of life. Therefore, this research work concludes that indeed radio can be used as a stimulant for national development by means of radio programmes as well as content.
