ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of principals’ leadership style on teachers’ job performance in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, three research questions were raised and examined. The sample size was made up of 112 respondents which consist of 8 secondary school principals and 104 teachers. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean and standard deviation. The findings from the study include that democratic, autocratic constitute the leadership styles mostly used among secondary school principals in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between principals’ leadership style and teachers’ job performance in public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that secondary school principals should often make more use of democratic leadership style as this will go a long way towards enhancing the level of teachers’ job performance.
