ABSTRACT
This research was taken to explore the impact of positive gossip on University of Benin employee. This research aims to identify the impact of gossip in the workplace on the behavior and performance of workers at University of Benin, to explore the positive gossip traits, employee attitudes, and work performance among University of Benin Employees, to assess the perceived impact of workplace gossip (positive) on the behavior/attitudes of employees at University of Benin and to evaluate employees' perceptions of the effects of workplace gossip on their performance as employees in the University of Benin. The research questions were drawn covering the above objectives.
The population consisted of employees who work in the University of Benin, Edo State. The sample for this study was 300. In order to gather data to address the research questions, questionnaires were administered. Out of 300 questionnaires distributed, 280 were returned.
The outcome of this study was analyzed by the use of frequency tables, percentages, using The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software.
It was discovered from this study that gossip has a positive impact on employees work attitude and performance in every organization. Gossip should not always been seen to have only negative impact on employees work attitude and should be encouraged.
