IMPACT OF MALARIA PARASITE ON HUMAN HEALTH AS PERCEIVED BY UNIVERSITY OF BENIN STUDENTS

ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to examine the impact of Malaria Parasite on Human Health as perceived by students. Two research questions were raised and analyzed for the study. The population of the Study comprises of undergraduate male and female students of the university of Benin with a population of eighty-two thousand, seven hundred and sixteen (82,716) while a sample size of 200 students making up 0.24% of the entire population of the study was used. The sample size was achieved using purposive sampling method. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and while the test-retest reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the Instrument. Frequency counts, simple percentages and mean deviation were used to analyze the data collected. The result revealed that; the knowledge about malaria parasite among students is high, this study also showed a huge impact of the malaria parasite on human health based on the perception of students.
