ABSTRACT
.. By way of testing, a set of research questions was developed and data were collected principally from. A survey research design was used for this study. Instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire which was developed by the researcher. It was validated by two (2) experts in the field of Human Kinetics and Sports Science. A total of two hundred and eight (208) questionnaire were retrieved from the respondents who are residents of ikpoba okha Local Government area. The simple count, frequency percentages was used to analyse the demographic information of students while the T-test was used to analyze the response of the respondents to the research questions that were raised in order to test for the hypotheses. Findings revealed that occupation is the major reason for not participating in leisure activities. Findings of this study revealed that residents have specific time for leisure activities, best known to them. Funds are available for transportation from their home to where they participate in leisure activities, they can't access sport facilities and equipment in Ikpkoba okha L.G.A without funds, there is no conducive recreational environment that encourage the participation of residents, hence it is important to declare that these factors must be specifically assessed and addressed in the study area to ensure maximum participation of the residents in lesisure activities.
