Summary                

This study was on impact of instructional materials on the teaching and learning of English language in the university of Benin. Three objectives were raised which included: To ascertain the role of instructional materials in the teaching and learning of English in University of Benin, to ascertain which instructional material can be best used by teachers and students in the teaching and learning of English in University, to Provide solutions to some of the problems accompanying the non-use of instructional media by teachers and students. In line with these objectives, two research hypotheses were formulated and two null hypotheses were posited. The total population for the study is 200 staff of University of Benin. The researcher used questionnaires as the instrument for the data collection. Descriptive Survey research design was adopted for this study. A total of 133 respondents made up HOD, senior lecturers, junior lecturers and graduate assistant was used for the study. The data collected were presented in tables and analyzed using simple percentages and frequencies.
