ABSTRACT

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have become common place entities in all aspect of life. The use of ICT in Education lends itself to more student's centeredlearning settings. But the world moving rapidly into digital media and information, the role of ICT in Education is becoming more and more important and this importance will continue to grow and develop in teaching and learning, that is why we choose a research on; The impact of Information Communication Technology on the productivity of Edo BEST programme in public primary schools in Edo state, The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of information communication technology on the productivity of Edo best programme in public primary schools in Edo state, to determine the impact of ICT in teachers input to output ratio in public primary schools in Edo state, To examine the impact of ICT via Edo BEST in eliminating inefficiency in public primary schools in Edo state, To determine student learning ability under the Edo BEST programme, then possible solutions to the ICT problems to improve the effective performance of the pupils and some recommendations that may lead to the improvement in the use of ICT in teaching and learning. The first hypothesis which was drawn were accepted at the end of the research, that: H1 : There is a relationship between ICT and productivity of Edo best programme in primary schools in Edo state, While the second hypothesis which was drawn were rejected at the end of the research, that: H0 : There is no relationship between ICT and productivity of Edo best programme in primary schools in Edo state. This is because the result of our findings has proven that ICT has a great impact on the performance of the public primary school pupils in Edo state, it has influenced teachers efficiency and effectiveness in teaching and learning as well influences the pupils' academic performance. Therefore, Government should look into the possibility of making ICT a general conduct and apply into the public primary schools by providing them with enough ICT facilities, qualified IT professionals and Technicians to ensure the effective utility and maintenance of the Units.
