ABSTRACT

The study investigated the impact of Individualized Education Programme on academic adaption of disabled learners in Ivibore primary school, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and answered. The population and sample size for the study were made up of all the 30 teachers in special primary school at Ivibore primary school in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The instrument for data collection is a self-designed questionnaire titled “Individualized Education Programme and Academic Adaption of Disabled Learners Questionnaire (IEPAADLQ)”. Data collected from the respondents was analyzed using descriptive statistics, precisely mean and standard deviation. The findings from the study include that there is a significant impact of Individualized Education Programme on the academic adaption of disabled learners in Ivibore primary school. It was concluded there is a significant impact of individualized education programme on disabled learners’ participation in classroom activities in Ivibore primary school. The study recommended among others that there should be collaboration between the government and relevant educational stakeholders to implement a system for continuous monitoring and evaluation of students’ progress within the framework of their individualized education programme. This regular assessments will help teachers identify areas of improvement and adjust interventions accordingly to maximize academic adaptation.
