ABSTRACT
The study focused on effects of in-training programmes on teachers’ performance. A case study of Ovia North East local government area of Edo State. Descriptive survey research design was used in this study. The population of the study comprised teachers’ in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo State.
The sample size of the study was Two hundred teachers (200) selected through a random sampling technique through the use of ballot paper. The instrument used to gather data was self-developed structured questionnaire by the researcher, entitled, “Questionnaire on Effect of In-training Programmes on Teachers’ Performance”. (QEITP).
The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and one expert in test and measurement, while its reliability was done through test retest method, while it coefficient revealed that in-training programme could make teachers to perform their job effectively. Recommendations were made that; teachers should be encouraged to be attending in-training programmes, teachers’ employers should allow teachers also to be regularly attending in-training programmes etc.
