ABSTRACT
This study examined the Impact of Family Instability on Juvenile Delinquency in Ekosodin Community, Edo State. The objective of the study was to examine the relationship that exist between family instability and anti-social behavior among juvenile in Ekosodin community, to identify risk factors associated with family instability on juvenile in Ekosodin, tobe ascertain the impact of parent’s attitudes on juvenile delinquency in Ekosodin community, andto examine the social work intervention strategies on juvenile in Ekosodin Community.
The methodology of this research is descriptive in nature however; a sample size of 250 was drawn from the population using simple random sampling techniques. Data were collected using questionnaires and were analyzed.
The study shows that there are relationships between family instability and anti-social behavior among juveniles in Ekosodin community, the risk factors associated with family instability in Ekosoodin Community is changes in family structure and financial difficulties, and also,Parent’s attitudes result into anti-social behavior among the juveniles in Ekosodin community.
The study recommends that the government should bring out policies to create family stability and there should be economic schemes to promote family finance, Social workers should educate parents on the importance of their attitude on their children. Social workers should adopt the following social work intervention strategies on juvenile in Ekosodin Community recommended in the findings of the study.
