ABSTRACT
Domestic waste management is of paramount importance, as it holds the key to fostering a sustainable future by providing individuals with the understanding and motivation needed to address critical waste management and environmental challenges. The aim of this research work is to assess the impact of environmental education on students’ knowledge and attitudes towards domestic waste management in the university of Benin, Edo state. Four research questions were raised to guide this study. The population of this study comprised of the students in the department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education and the department of Human Kinetics and Sport science which are a total number of 95 students (50 and 45 respectively). A sample size of fifty (50) respondents (25 respondents each for each department) were selected using a non-random sampling technique that is purposive sampling technique was used to select respondents for this study. A quasi- experimental research design was adopted for this study and a structured questionnaire titled “The Impact of Environmental Education on Students Knowledge and Attitudes Towards Domestic Waste Management” was used after validation by two (2) experts from the Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education. To determine the reliability of the instruments the test retest method of estimating the reliability of the instrument was used for the research.
