ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to assess the effect of environmental clubs in the knowledge and attitudes of secondary school students towards flooding in Uwelu community. The study was guided by four research questions and two hypotheses were raised and analyzed for the purpose of this study.

 A random sampling technique was used in the selection of thirty (30) students which will be drawn from the Senior Secondary students of Ogunbor group of schools, Uwelu, Benin city were randomly selected for the study. The collection of data was carried out through the a a a questionnaire instrument. The data were analyzed, tabulated, interpreted and then discussed. Percentage and frequency were adopted as a method of data analysis.

The findings of the study therefore clearly revealed that the level that; the knowledge level the senior secondary students towards flooding in their environment was relatively high. The students of Ogunbor group of schools had knowledge about flooding, it’s causes and hire to prevent floods. Following the findings of the study, the researcher recommends below; there should be increased sensitization about the indiscriminate dumping of waste, regular sanitation and clearing of gutters to prevent floods for occurring.
