ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to identify the impact of environmental and safety clubs on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of secondary schools on the use of pedestrian bridges. Four research questions and two hypotheses were raised and analyzed for the purpose of the study.
The Quasi-experimental research design was employed inthestudy. A random sampling technique was used in selection of forty (40) students drawn from all Junior secondary school students in Victory Christian College, Benin City. The data were collected with questionnaire instrument and analyzed using simple percentage. The result revealed that the knowledge level of JSS 1A and JSS 1B students in Victory Christian College on the use of the pedestrian bridge is relatively high.
Students in Victory Christian College are aware of the nature, safety, and rules of the use of the pedestrian bridge. Also, the study revealed that the students had a positive attitude towards the use of the pedestrian bridge. Based on the results, it was recommended that environmental education be promoted in schools and extracurricular activities for all classes, age groups, and genders. Every school should create its distinct environmental policy, put it into action, and ensure that every student is a part of at least one environmental group.
