ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to investigate the impact of double promotion in preschool in Oredo local government area, Edo State. The purpose of this study was to decrease double promotion and know the impact it has in the academic performance of the preschool child. To guild this study, four research questions were raised and answered. The instrument used for the study was a questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the instrument were ascertained by the researcher’s superior and two other experts in early childhood education, while the Pearson Moment Correlation method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. The findings of the data collected reveals that impact of double promotion has a great impact on the child personality, academic performance of the child in preschool and teacher’s workload.It is recommend that all available alternatives at the school/ classroom will be considered prior to double promotion and such a system should prevalent in the government schools where the students could be benefitted due to their higher potentials.
