ABSTRACT

This long essay exposes the disillusionment and socio-political reality of the Nigerian Society. A close examination of Ebinyo Ogbowei’s Marsh Boy and other poems and Landscape of Reality by Yusuf Adamu reveals the poets disappointment with the prevailing power structures and the marginalization of certain segments of the society .In line with this, the Marxist theory forms the base of this study. Through both collections, the issues of injustice, exploitation, oppression, weaponizing of poverty, inequality, social awareness, and advocate for transformative change are presented with emotive languages and striking images to convey the harsh realities faced by individuals in Nigerian society.
