The study was based on interview and personal observation of copious marriage proceedings. Information gathered were creatively factored into the script, Eto Igbeyawo, produced by the researcher, who ultimately directed the staging of Eto Igbeyawo in the Theatre Hall of the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria on the 15th of August, 2023. By way of conclusion, the production was not just for entertainment, but to educate the audience on the typical marriage practices among the Yoruba people of Nigeria and highlight the traditional values in the wake of Western culture centeredness among contemporary Nigerian youths who constituted a preponderance of the audience. It was recommended that educational theatres in Nigerian universities should showcase more plays based on themes from the various cultures of Nigeria as means to educate Nigerian drama students on Nigeria’s typical cultural practices.
