The identification and management of outliers

SUMMARY

We treated background of the study, sources of outliers, classification of outliers, definition of terms, statement and problemims, aim and objectives of the study as well as scope of the study. We reviewed extensively some relevant literatures on the subject matter and they revealed what outliers are all about. The methodology of the study dealt with the methods used in identifying and managing outliers. We discussed diferent methods like the sorting methods, the use of visuals, the use of interquartile range, etc. We analysed the application of these methods on two examples of dataset and we observed that from the first example there was no outlier, but the second example contained an outlier.
