ICT POWER POINT PRESENTATION IN TEACHING BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN UNIVERSITIES IN EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

The study determined the use of ICT Powerpoint presentation in teaching and learning of Business Education Students in Universities in Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The study employed the descriptive survey research design. The population of this study consists of two hundred and ninety five (295) business education students from 100 to 400 levels in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, University of Benin. The sample size was made up of 100 business education students in the department of Vocational and Technical education. The instrument used for the data collection for this study was a self-structured questionnaire titled use of ICT powerpoint presentation  in teaching and learning of Business Education students in Universities in Edo State (UIPPTLBEQ).

It was however subjected to face validity by the researchers’ supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. To establish the reliability of the instrument that was used for the study, the internal consistency method was employed by using Cronbach alpha formula. The instrument was administered to 15 students who were not part of the study population. However, the instrument yielded an alpha value of 0.05. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.

The findings of the study revealed that the application of computer, Projectors, interactive whiteboards and teleconferencing influences the teaching and learning of business education to a high extent and that there is no significant difference between male and female application of  ICT power point in teaching and learning of business education in Universities in Edo State. It was concluded that the use ICT powerpoint presentation significantly influenced the teaching and learning of business education in Universities in Edo State. It was however recommended that universities and government should provide the basic and necessary ICT powerpoint tools that are needed to enhance teachers and students effectiveness in the teaching and learning process.
