ABSTRACT
Four (4) boreholes were drilled and studied in a spill site located along the dual trunk lines at Agbonchia in Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State. This was done to see if contaminant plume had found its way to the groundwater, and to also find the groundwater flow direction and the near surface lithology. The Hollow stem auger (ASTM D1452) was used to drill the holes needed and the pumping machine installed while soil samples were taken for analysis. From the results of the lithologic units studied, it was found out that the contaminant had not reached the groundwater and has not been affected. It was also observed that the groundwater flows in the north-eastern direction.
