ABSTRACT
One hundred and seventeen (117) ditch cutting samples were collected from the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) from a depth of four thousand, five hundred feet (4500ft) to eleven thousand, five hundred feet (11500ft) from BSEN Well located in the Greater Ughelli Depobelt, Niger Delta Basin, southern Nigeria and were processed for sedimentological analysis. A lithostratigraphical chart embracing lithofacies, lithofacie units, Formations and associated minerals for the well was generated. The result of the sedimentological analysis of the studied BSEN well (4500ft – 11500ft) situated in the Niger Delta Basin in Southern Nigeria reveals four (4) lithofacies namely Sandstone, Sandy Shale, Shale and Shaly Sand and. Twenty seven (27) lithofacies unit were identified in the well and they includes; the Shale lithofacies delineated at units 1, 5, 23 and 25; the Sandstone lithofacie delineated at units 11, 13, 18 and 27; the Shaly Sand lithofacies delineated at units 3, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21 and 24; the Sandy Shale lithofacies delineated at units 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 17, 20, 22 and 26. The hydrocarbon play elements delineated in the studied BSEN well includes, source rock, reservoir rock, caprock, seals and trap.
