ABSTRACT

The main objective of this study was to examine the effect of human resources management practices on job satisfaction of employees in grocery stores. The study employed the use of descriptive survey study as its research design. Five specific objectives were generated to accomplish the general objectives of the study. The questionnaire was the research instrument targeted at a sample of 250 respondents for the study in which 149 was retrieved and used for the empirical analysis.

The quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Considering the research objectives of the study; the findings of the study had demonstrated that human resources management practices significantly affect job satisfaction; while the study also demonstrated that HRM practices such as training and development, supervisory support and working environment significantly impact job satisfaction while recruitment and selection, and compensation and benefits do not significantly affect job satisfaction. As a result of the study findings, we therefore conclude that HRM practices of grocery stores significantly affects their employees’ job satisfaction. Ultimately, HRM practices has been proven in this study to be a significant factor in the determination of job satisfaction.
