ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine human resources planning on organizational performance of selected hotels in Benin City, Edo state. In order to actualize the objectives of the study, various literature and theoretical issues were discussed. The instrument used for the purpose of this research was the primary research instrument (questionnaire). The mass of information generated from the questionnaires was summarized in form of table and analyzed using frequency, simple percentage and mean. The researcher administered one hundred (100) questionnaires to respondents, out of which same number (100) were retrieved for the purpose of presenting and analyzing responses to issues raised in the questionnaires. The hypotheses were tested using the regression analysis statistical tool. The findings from the analysis revealed among other things that; aligning HRP to the organization’s strategic goals and optimal staffing has a positive (direct) and insignificant relationship on organizational performance; while employee motivation has a positive (direct) and significant relationship on organizational performance. The study recommends amongst others that; the hotels should ensure that HRP is mainstreamed in the overall strategic goals and a budget provided for it; to ensure optimal staffing levels the hotels should undertake professional demand and supply forecasting; in the area of stagnation, the management should put in guidelines that ensure employee career progression to avoid stagnation in one job grade for a long time; hotels should ensure that schemes of service are regularly reviewed and emerging issues taken into consideration so as to enhance career progression of staff; among others
